2023 HRP Scholarship Recipients Announced
For the fifteenth consecutive year, the Houston Relocation Professionals have organized a scholarship program to address the special needs of students who have relocated during their high school careers. These students face all the usual stresses associated with relocation in addition to being at a scholastic disadvantage due to credit and grade transferability difficulties between school systems. This scholastic disadvantage translates into a competitive disadvantage when competing for coveted university scholarships and grants. Honoring the HRP mission of community outreach, HRP funds two $2,500.00 scholarships to students meeting strict relocation requirements. The scholarship was offered to Seniors at 72 Houston area high schools. HRP received 29 applications which were evaluated by a team of 5 HRP relocation professionals on the basis of grade point averages, class rankings, standardized test scores, extracurricular and community activity as well as their personal story as told through a 1,000 word essay. After much deliberation, we selected Amanda Roberts of Bellaire High School to receive our scholarship.
Special thanks to all of our members, judges and the WERC Foundation for making it possible to help these fine students achieve their dreams.
