Brian Smith - President

Brian is VP, West Divisional Sales Manager, for the Corporate Relocation and Employee Benefit Lending team at U.S. Bank.  For over 35 years, Brian has served in the Mortgage Industry with nearly all of it dedicated to Corporate Relocation and Employee Benefits.  Brian achieved his CRP in 2004 and remains very active within several relocation regional groups. 

Chris Furlotte - Vice President

Chris has over 30 years of experience in the mobility industry. Over his career Chris has held various positions in leadership, sales, operations, client relations, group moves and consulting. In addition, he managed a regional client services office with 6 direct reports and 32 indirect reports and oversaw a client portfolio of over $12 mil. He is a recognized industry leader and has spoken at local and national industry conferences on topics ranging from policy development and program design to service level agreement management and family support services. Outside his primary roles, Chris is the former President of the Southern California Relocation Counsel, and in the past has served on the boards of the Bay Area Mobility Management and the Western International Personnel Association. He earned a BS in Business Administration from University of Rhode Island and a Certificate in International Business from University of California, Irvine. Chris also holds Worldwide ERC’s Certified Relocation Professional (CRP) designation.



Brett Lyons - Treasurer

Brett Lyons is Advisor, Relocation Programs at Chevron, where he manages the US domestic relocation program, oversees supplier relationships, and is tasked with designing and implementing worldwide relocation programs. He has over 20 years of progressive experience in the relocation industry in a variety of positions encompassing both domestic and international mobility. Prior to joining Chevron, Brett spent twelve years a service provider in the relocation industry. He holds the CRP designation from Worldwide ERC, the GPHR designation from HR Certification Institute, and the SHRM-SCP designation from Society for Human Resource Management. Brett has been a speaker at Houston Relocation Professionals, North Texas Relocation Professionals, Portland Relocation Council and Worldwide ERC events.



Vibeke Hahn - Secretary

Serving as vice president, client services at Graebel, Vibeke (V) has been in the mobility industry for over 20 years with significant experience supporting a range of clients, from solely U.S. domestic to global programs, and from small to large.  V is known for her passion for the client and customer experience and the way she builds strategic partnerships, bringing timely, transparent communication to create an atmosphere of trust.  

With a background primarily in account management and operations, V is keenly focused on ensuring the client's needs and objectives are understood, to enable the Graebel team to meet and exceed those requirements.  Prior to her current role, V led the Implementation Services team at Graebel, so she has experience in understanding the end-to-end process of a successful implementation and program optimization.  

V lives and works in the Houston area and spends her free time outdoors, reading, or keeping up with her two sons.  


Michael Hughes - Events 

Michael Hughes is the founder and owner of BetterGo, a global platform dedicated to transforming the relocation experience by connecting employees and their families with certified mental health professionals, and tailored well-being solutions. With a focus on diversity and equity, BetterGo empowers individuals to navigate the challenges of global mobility with holistic and personalized support.

Michael began his career in global mobility in Beijing in 2011 as an Account Manager, where he developed a strong foundation in client relations and cross-cultural collaboration. Over the next decade, he advanced through roles in general management, sales, and business development, ultimately serving as Managing Director of Consumer-Based Services for a multinational logistics firm. In this leadership role, Michael oversaw strategic initiatives, global team management, and the development of innovative programs tailored to meet the needs of relocating employees and their families.

With over 15 years of experience as an expat in China, along with time spent in Egypt and South Korea, Michael brings a unique perspective to the intersection of mental health and global mobility. Fluent in Korean and Mandarin Chinese, his international experience has shaped his ability to create impactful, culturally sensitive solutions.

An advocate for inclusivity and mental health, Michael is deeply committed to advancing diversity and equity in the workplace. He actively supports organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, SIRE Equine Therapy, and the LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce in Houston, contributing his time and expertise to initiatives that foster community well-being and empowerment.


Jose Alberto Lucena - Events

Jose Alberto Lucena Moreno leads Halliburton's Global Mobility & Relocation team, overseeing the company's comprehensive mobility and relocation programs. He is responsible for managing relationships with Global Mobility and Relocation vendors, ensuring seamless support for the program. Jose Alberto reports to the Total Rewards department within HR.

With over 16 years of extensive experience in global mobility, immigration, international human resources, relocation, administration, benefits, and international population management, Jose Alberto has held several key roles at Halliburton across multiple countries, including Venezuela, Panama, Canada, and currently the United States. His career at Halliburton began as a Community Relations Representative, followed by positions as an HR Business Operation Partner, Global Mobility Advisor, Global Mobility Manager for the Western Hemisphere, and most recently, Global Mobility & Relocation Manager.

In his current role, Jose Alberto is instrumental in developing and implementing global mobility strategies that support the company's international workforce. He ensures compliance with immigration laws and regulations, manages relocation logistics, and provides guidance on international assignments. His expertise in global mobility and relocation helps Halliburton attract and retain top talent by offering comprehensive support for employees and their families during international transitions.

Jose Alberto holds an accounting degree from Universidad del Zulia and a degree in Human Resources from Universidad Rafael Belloso Chacin, both in Venezuela. He is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources - International™ (SPHRi™) by HRCI and as a Global Mobility Specialist, Talent Management (GMS-T®) by Worldwide ERC®.
